The Story of Snowman

Briefly: Snowman was a famous show jumper in the 1950s-60s. He was a rescue bought off a truck bound for the slaughterhouse for $80 by Harry de Leyer. He was an okay lesson horse, but Harry decided to sell him to a nearby doctor. The big grey jumped the fences repeatedly until Harry finally bought him back. Harry and Snowman later became champion show jumpers and winners. You can learn more about them in Elizabeth Letts' book: The $80 Champion ~ Snowman, the horse that inspired a nation. Their story inspired me to paint a custom Snowman. He is by far my favorite custom.

Unfortunately I cannot find non-copyrighted pictures of Snowman, but you can see him at
